Excel run sheet to grandMA3 cue list

Upload the .xlsx file from production as it is. CueSetter finds the header row and the columns for number, time and title, and gives you a grandMA3 macro that builds one named cue per row.

What it reads

What CueSetter reads in an Excel run sheet

  1. 1

    Every sheet in the workbook

One sheet per day or stage is fine. Pick the sheet you need; hidden sheets are skipped. The title above the table, or else the sheet name, becomes the sequence name.

  2. 2

The header row, wherever it is

Title and info rows at the top are skipped. The header row can be anywhere in the first 20 rows, with headers like #, Start, Time, Duration, Title or Item.

  3. 3

    Times as Excel shows them

Cells formatted as time come out as 18:30, not 0.77. Repeated header rows further down are skipped.

  4. 4

    Items over several rows

A row without a number or time continues the item above, so a long item or a set list stays one cue, ready to split into sub-cues.

How it works

From Excel to the console

  1. Cue 1GO

    Upload the .xlsx file

Drop the file into CueSetter. If the workbook has several sheets with a run sheet, choose the one for the show.

  2. Cue 2GO

    Check the columns and cues

The columns found are marked. Pick another if one is wrong, then edit names and split a set list into sub-cues.

  3. Cue 3GO

    Import on grandMA3

Unzip the macro to the root of a USB stick. In Show Creator, choose Macros and the stick, import it and run it once. The sequence is built with one named cue per item.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How do I get an Excel cue list into grandMA3?

grandMA3 imports macros as XML files. CueSetter turns the spreadsheet into a grandMA3 macro: import it from a USB stick and run it once, and the sequence is built with one named cue per item.

Can I use .xls or CSV files?

Old .xls files can’t be read; open them in Excel and save as .xlsx. A CSV file can be opened in Excel and saved as .xlsx too, or you can copy the rows with the header and paste them into CueSetter as text.

Is the file uploaded to a server?

No. The file is read in your browser on your own computer and is never sent to us or any other server.
